Elk Grove's next freeway road project got a big injection of state funding Tuesday.
The California Transportation Commission on Tuesday approved more than $300 million in funding for 91 transportation projects, including $5 million for the Elk Grove Boulevard-Highway 99 interchange project.
“Investing in our transportation infrastructure creates a better future for all Californians,” a press release quoted Caltrans Director Malcolm Dougherty as saying.
The project, which is scheduled to be completed next year, will "Add [a] northbound on-ramp, remove [the] existing traffic signal, add [a] second left turn lane to southbound on-ramp, and add [a] northbound deceleration lane," according to CalTrans.
Its total budget is $9.5 million.
