Elk Grove City Manager Pay Raise Approved by Council

Elk Grove City Manager Laura Gill will now earn about $240,000 per year.

A 5 percent pay raise for Elk Grove City Manager Laura Gill breezed through the Elk Grove City Council Wednesday night.

Gill's salary will grow from $228,871 to $240,315–the raise includes an automatic cost-of-living increase built into her contract and a 2.4 percent raise for merit.

Elk Grove resident Michael Monasky was the only one to speak on the item Wednesday night, and argued Gill didn't deserve a raise because last winter's Old Town Elk Grove ice skating rink lost more money than anticipated.

No council members commented publicly on the item, and it passed unanimously as part of the consent calendar, a block of items not expected to create debate or discussion.

Gill was originally slated to receive a larger merit pay raise, but asked for a smaller one, a city staff report stated.
