Elk Grove Election Guide 2012: Elk Grove School Board

Four Elk Grove Unified School District Board of Education seats will be up for election in November.

This fall, voters will choose board members in four of the seven seats on the Elk Grove Unified School District Board of Education:

Area 1, which includes Florin and areas of south Sacramento to the east of Highway 99, is currently represented by William Lugg. He is retiring, and three candidates are vying for his seat: .

Area 3, which is approximately the area west of Highway 99 from Meadowview Road to Sheldon Road, is currently represented by Chet Madison. He is running for reelection unopposed.

Area 6, which generally includes Franklin and the areas west of Highway 99 and south of Elk Grove Boulevard, is currently represented by appointed Trustee Jake Rambo. He is being challenged by Steve Ly.

Area 7, which includes Vineyard, Rancho Murieta and part of Rancho Cordova, is currently represented by Al Rowlett. He is being challenged by Theresa Beals and Carmine Forcina.

Also, Pollyanna Cooper-LeVangie, who represented Area 4, announced recently that she would resign; she was replaced by Bobbie Singh-Allen.

The candidates met at an election forum in September sponsored by ElkGroveNews.net, Elk Grove Patch and The Sacramento Bee. The full video from that event can be viewed here.

Why does Steve Ly's campaign flyer have "teacher" listed but no one can tell me his credential area?
Andres Ramos November 5, 2012 at 12:52 pm
I believe he's a teacher of foster kids for the county office of education.

To me teacher indicates a credential. There are support personnel that help students in foster programs that don't have a credential. I think it is misleading to use the title "Teacher" if you don't possess a credential. I still can't get a straight answer and that is a red flag for a school board candidate.

Why not down to Grantline and then head back north along the freeway? Plus Kammerer will eventuallyRead More be widened all the way to I-5 and commuters can use that too. Take Grantline to Kammerer to Bruceville.

An overpass and off/on ramps will be built at Whitelock Parkway after the mall is built, whichRead More should take place after the soccer stadium is built, which should take place after the city secures a professional soccer team. Elk Grove better make sure the professional soccer team is a women's team, or else LaWanna Montgomery will be mad.

Thanks for the suggestion. The City is currently studying a new interchange off 99 and Whitelock,Read More and the project is in our General Plan. We’re also updating the Elk Grove Blvd. onramp—currently one of the most outdated on 99 in the region. Work will begin this summer.
