Former Elk Grove Patch Editor Gets Some Local Praise

Felicia Mello "fostered healthy competition among the various media outlets that ultimately benefits the people of Elk Grove," wrote Elk Grove News.

As 2012 came to a close, Elk Grove News published a wrap-up story about the best and the worst of the year that was. We're proud to say that our former colleague, Felicia Mello, who launched Elk Grove Patch in late 2010, was chosen as Elk Grove's Media Person of 2012.

Here's what Elk Grove News had to say:

"Although Mello is no longer with us – she left for greener pastures in Las Vegas but is still alive – her presence at Elk Grove Patch will be missed. Mello established Patch’s Elk Grove presence a little over two years ago that fostered healthy competition among the various media outlets that ultimately benefits the people of Elk Grove."

We shot our former colleague an email to see which stories she found to be most satisfying during her time in Elk Grove, to which she responded:

"I think I was most proud of the video I made about the Sikh men who were murdered, our consistent coverage of the Walmart stuff, stories I broke about transportation shenanigans and global warming deniers, and for some reason, this little Old Town business story."
