Freeway Sign Win For Elk Grove Businesses Says Local Developer

Is Elk Grove ready for some billboard signs? What are your thoughts?

A local businessman has seemingly won a victory in the promotion of his business venture, which he says will pave the way for businesses to gain more traffic from freeway travelers along Highway 99.

The man, Gil Moore, is planning to build a 13,000 square foot convenience store  in Elk Grove that he says will benefit from a sign he plans to put up between Highway 99 and E. Stockton Boulevard, according to this story on CBS Local.

Moore is able to construct the sign because of a recent change in the Elk Grove sign ordinance. The city council voted to approve the change so that businesses can build signs along the highway, which they say will capture that all-important traffic from Highway 99.

But opponents of the change in the sign ordinance say that the signs will be an eyesore and that the town will be inundated with them. Now we put the question up to the readers of Elk Grove Patch.

Did the city council make the right decision to allow businesses to place signs along Highway 99.
