Here's what's closing early this New Year's

Local government offices, community organizations greet 2012 at home.

While Elk Grovians are enjoying the holidays with family and friends, it’s important to remember many municipal offices and service providers will be closed so employees can also take part in their own winter festivities.

Here are a few upcoming closures:

Elk Grove City Hall will ring in the new year by closing at noon Dec. 30. City Hall will reopen Jan. 3.

Cosumnes Community Services District offices, including community centers, will be closed on Dec. 30. All parks will remain open from sunrise until one hour after sunset.

Sacramento County libraries, including branches in Elk Grove, Laguna and the Franklin Community Library, will be closed New Year’s Day.

Only Valley Hi-North Laguna Library will be open Dec. 27 through Dec. 31.

Library materials will not be due the week between Christmas and New Year’s, and any fines will be waived by staff. 

The Elk Grove Food Bank will be closed Monday through Dec. 30, reopening Jan. 2. Regular hours are Monday through Friday, with donations accepted between 9 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., and food distribution taking place between 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.
