Lynn Wheat to Launch Mayoral Campaign Saturday

The activist has pledged not to accept any campaign contributions.

An hour before one candidate is set to open his mayoral campaign office this Saturday, another candidate will launch a more modest campaign.

Lynn Wheat, an Elk Grove activist running for mayor, is inviting residents to meet her at 9 a.m. Saturday at , 10064 Bruceville Rd.

"In a manner reminiscent of our country’s forefathers, Ms. Wheat has committed to spreading her campaign message directly to the residents and business owners–neighborhood by neighborhood," Wheat said in a press release.

.

Wheat said in the press release that she hopes to reform campaign finance in Elk Grove and will not be accepting any contributions during this election cycle. She said she will only spend $1,000 of her own money on top of the $825 filing fee.

"Ms. Wheat sees the city entering a critical stage in its development that requires freshnew leadership," the press release states, criticizing the city's economic development policies and its plans to expand its sphere of influence.

It is easy for Mr. Davis to open a campaign office with all the monies that he has received from the developers, special interest groups and unions. If the citizens of Elk Grove take the time to review Mr. Davis' Campaign Statement (Ca. Form 460) they will discover that roughly 80% of the $100.000 plus Mr. Davis has received has come from the developers, special interest groups and unions. How can Mr. Davis state that he is running a grass root campaign when the money for his campaign is coming from outside of Elk Grove? It time for a change let's elect someone who is not supported by outside sources.

Why not down to Grantline and then head back north along the freeway? Plus Kammerer will eventuallyRead More be widened all the way to I-5 and commuters can use that too. Take Grantline to Kammerer to Bruceville.

An overpass and off/on ramps will be built at Whitelock Parkway after the mall is built, whichRead More should take place after the soccer stadium is built, which should take place after the city secures a professional soccer team. Elk Grove better make sure the professional soccer team is a women's team, or else LaWanna Montgomery will be mad.

Thanks for the suggestion. The City is currently studying a new interchange off 99 and Whitelock,Read More and the project is in our General Plan. We’re also updating the Elk Grove Blvd. onramp—currently one of the most outdated on 99 in the region. Work will begin this summer.
