Lynn Wheat to Launch Mayoral Campaign Saturday

The activist has pledged not to accept any campaign contributions.

An hour before one candidate is set to open his mayoral campaign office this Saturday, another candidate will launch a more modest campaign.

Lynn Wheat, an Elk Grove activist running for mayor, is inviting residents to meet her at 9 a.m. Saturday at , 10064 Bruceville Rd.

"In a manner reminiscent of our country’s forefathers, Ms. Wheat has committed to spreading her campaign message directly to the residents and business owners–neighborhood by neighborhood," Wheat said in a press release.

Wheat said in the press release that she hopes to reform campaign finance in Elk Grove and will not be accepting any contributions during this election cycle. She said she will only spend $1,000 of her own money on top of the $825 filing fee.

"Ms. Wheat sees the city entering a critical stage in its development that requires freshnew leadership," the press release states, criticizing the city's economic development policies and its plans to expand its sphere of influence.
