New Elk Grove Planning Commissioner Appointed

The following is a news release from the city of Elk Grove: 


Mayor Gary Davis appointed Elk Grove resident Kevin Spease to the Elk Grove Planning Commission at last night’s City Council meeting.

 

“Kevin is an exceptionally qualified individual with a deep and vested interest in the future of Elk Grove,” said Mayor Gary Davis. “Kevin shares our collective goals of strategic, sustainable and smart growth and employment-oriented development, and has a steadfast commitment to an open and transparent planning process.”

Spease has nearly 30 years of professional experience in military defense information systems and is actively involved in the community.  Spease is a member of the Elk Grove Chamber of Commerce, member of American Legion Post 233 and member of the Laguna Sunrise Rotary, where he is responsible for managing literacy programs that benefit the Elk Grove Unified School District.

“I’m deeply honored to be appointed to the Elk Grove Planning Commission,” said Commissioner Spease.  “I’ve considered Elk Grove my home for more than 30 years, and I look forward to giving back to my community and making Elk Grove an even better place to call home.” 

 

Spease replaces Brian Villanueva who left public service in November 2013.

 

The Planning Commission is comprised of five members and is tasked with reviewing and approving a wide variety of planning applications, and making recommendations to the City Council on zone changes, General Plan amendments, and other municipal planning matters.  The Planning Commission meets on the first and third Thursday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 8400 Laguna Palms Drive.
