New Restaurant Could Get $175K Subsidy to Open in Old Town Elk Grove

The owners of the West Sacramento restaurant Broderick Roadhouse want to open a new eatery called Broderick General Store in Old Town Elk Grove.

A new restaurant could be coming to Old Town Elk Grove, but first the owners are asking for a little help from the city.

The owners of the West Sacramento Broderick Roadhouse restaurant and Wicked 'Wich food truck are planning to open a new restaurant, called Broderick General Store, in the former Elk Grove Brewery, 9085 Elk Grove Blvd.

They're asking for an $175,000 economic development incentive, and the Elk Grove City Council will discuss the request Wednesday.

Of that request, $125,000 would go toward "start-up costs including new furnishings and equipment for the restaurant," according to a city staff report. The other $50,000 would go toward marketing and promotional costs during the first three years the eatery is open.

The restaurant is pursuing a five-year lease with two five-year extensions and the option to buy the building, the city reports. The city staff report describes the proposed restaurant as "a full-service, family-friendly yet edgy restaurant... featuring locally sourced, high-quality ingredients."

It says the eatery would boast "touches of western themes including historic photos, maps and other keepsakes adorning the walls."

City staff support the request, saying the initial $125,000 incentive could come from the Economic Development Fund, which has a balance of about $275,000.

"The remaining advertising incentive amount of $50,000 will be included in future appropriation requests," the staff report states.
