Next week's primary election will feature six choices for the newly created Assembly district that includes Elk Grove, parts of Sacramento, Galt and Lodi.
There is no incumbent in the race for Assembly District 9, but Democrat Richard Pan currently holds a seat in another district.
Four of the other candidates have current or past ties to Elk Grove, including . Because of new open primary laws, the two top finishers will face each other in the November general election, regardless of their political party.
The candidates are:
