Reminder: Elk Grove Candidates' Night Election Forum is Tonight

Mayoral and school board candidates will meet on Sept. 17 in Elk Grove.

[Editor's note: This article was originally published on Aug. 28]

Knowing the candidates is the most important part of any election season, and local voters will get a chance to hear the views of Elk Grove's candidates Monday night.

Elk Grove News, Elk Grove Patch and the Sacramento Bee will host a forum, Elk Grove Candidates' Night, at 7 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 17. The event will be held at the Holiday Inn Express, 9175 W. Stockton Blvd.

Click here to RSVP for the event; attendance is limited to 300 people.

Access Sacramento will be filming the event for a later broadcast (it will not be shown live) as part of its Hometown TV program.

Candidates running for Elk Grove mayor and the Elk Grove Unified School District Board of Education will have time to share their positions and answer questions from moderators and audience members.

Six people are vying to be the city's first directly elected mayor, while a total of eight candidates are competing for three contested trustee seats on the school district's board. One school board seat is uncontested, with incumbent Chet Madison running unopposed.

Note: Mayoral candidate Greg Higley has announced he will not be able to attend the forum.

Why not down to Grantline and then head back north along the freeway? Plus Kammerer will eventuallyRead More be widened all the way to I-5 and commuters can use that too. Take Grantline to Kammerer to Bruceville.
