Seniors, People With Disabilities Can Start Applying For Measure A Tax Reduction

Applications will be accepted until June 30.

Senior citizens age 65 and older and people with disabilities living within the Elk Grove Unified School District have until June 30 to apply for a 70 percent Measure A tax reduction.

Under 1987's Measure A, qualified applicants living in houses built before 1987 would pay $13.75 in annual property tax instead of $45.84. Those living in houses built between Jan. 26, 1987 and June 30, 1998 would pay $35.35 instead of $117,84. Same rates apply to apartments and mobile homes.

To qualify, applicants should also have no school-age children living with them. People can apply by phone, mail, or in person. For more information, call the district's Facilities and Planning Department at (916) 686-7562, or send an email to schooltax@egusd.net.
