For the second time since he was first elected to the city council, Elk Grove Mayor Gary Davis will give a State of the City address this week.
Davis, who hinted he would make "an exciting announcement" during his speech, will give the address at 11:30 a.m. Friday.
The event is hosted by the Elk Grove Chamber of Commerce and is held at the Valley Hi Country Club. It will be webcast live via the city's website.
During Davis' 2008 stint as mayor–when the position was rotated among council members–he spoke in his State of the City of promising economic times ahead.
"Take a short drive on Highway 99 and you’ll see significant progress on the Elk Grove Promenade, the region’s newest mall, currently scheduled to open next year," he said in 2008. "Right now, mall developers are investing $100 million in our community – and the benefits of that investment will be substantial."
He also highlighted various city programs, city employees and local volunteers.
