Elk Grove Unified Will No Longer Serve Peanuts After Local Allergy Death

Elementary schools at the Elk Grove Unified School District currently serve peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.

After a 13-year-old Carmichael girl at an area summer camp died from a single bite of a dessert made with peanuts, some California school districts are taking actions to remove foods with peanuts from their cafeteria menus.

The Elk Grove Unified School District is following suit, News10 reports.

As of this Friday, Elk Grove elementary schools will no longer serve foods with peanuts–including peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.
