Charter schools have been slow to take root in Elk Grove, perhaps in part because of the school district's positive reputation. When we what they liked best about living in Elk Grove, "great public schools" was the second-most-popular response. The city currently has one Montessori charter school. Three other charter schools serve home-schooled students.
