Recruiters Descending on Pleasant Grove's Arik Armstead

After a busy week hosting recruiters from around the country, the high school athlete will visit a school close to home.

It was just about a year ago that Elk Grove Patch profiled Arik Armstead, Pleasant Grove High School's football and basketball star. A junior at the time, Armstead told Elk Grove Patch that basketball was his "first love" and that if he had to choose between the two sports, he'd pick basketball. Now it looks as if football is picking him.

A blogger for ESPN Insider wrote Tuesday that recruiters from four football programs will be dropping by the Armstead home this week. And on Saturday, Armstead and his dad will visit the University of California, Berkeley to see the "new stuff, new facilities."

On Saturday, the Granite Bay Grizzlies beat the Pleasant Grove Eagles 30-24 in the Sac-Joaquin Section Division I championship. The Sacramento Bee reported that a rotator cuff injury sidelined Armstead late in the game. The Eagles are 12-2 for the season.
