School Employees Compete in 'Safety Olympics'

Strapping three people to a pair of skis and going on a scavenger hunt for safety hazards were just some of the activities at a training session for Elk Grove Unified School District workers Friday.

While  looked and sounded like a party Friday morning, the wild and wacky games taking place were actually part of an annual training day for employees of Elk Grove public schools.

Over 100 Elk Grove Unified School District Food and Nutrition Services employees joined together to compete in the “Safety Olympics”—a series of friendly competitions designed to build teamwork, communication skills and safety awareness.

“We start with activities so while the employees are in a fun environment, they also learn,” said operations manager Sneh Nair.
