Student Allegedly Shows off Pellet Guns at School, is Arrested

The incident happened at Elk Grove High School.

An Elk Grove High School freshman was arrested this week after officials say he brought a pair of pellet guns to school and showed them to a classmate.

Elk Grove Unified School District spokeswoman Liz Graswich said the student reportedly showed off a pair of handgun-style pellet guns to another student on Monday while the two were alone in a classroom.

Graswich said the student with the guns wasn't threatening the other student.

"It was a, 'Hey look what I brought,' " Graswich said.

The student who was shown the guns reported it to authorities the next day, and school police identified the boy and contacted him off campus. Graswich said the boy had the pellet guns with him again, but officials are only aware of him actually bringing them on campus once.

"He will face appropriate disciplinary and criminal action," Graswich said. She declined to specify what kind of discipline he'll face within the school district, but said he was charged with bringing a dangerous weapon on school grounds and transported to juvenile hall.

Parents received a letter Wednesday notifying them of the incident, Graswich said.
