Want to Be on the School Board?

Elk Grove Unified School District board members are taking applications to replace Pamela Irey, who is exiting early from a term that expires in November.

With Elk Grove Unified School District board member Pamela Irey bowing out of her term early due to illness, the board will appoint a replacement to serve until the November 2012 election.

Community members who are interested in serving can bring a resume, three-page letter of interest and optional recommendation letters to the Robert L. Trigg Education Center, 9510 Elk Grove-Florin Road, by 5:00 p.m. March 9.

Board members will screen the applicants and interview finalists at a public meeting March 27.

Irey suffered a concussion and broken ribs when she was charged by an escaped bull while working as a Cal Expo police officer in 2007, according to the Sacramento Bee.

She told the Bee she never fully recovered from the incident, and still gets headaches and confusion that made it difficult to perform her board duties.
