Bill Kapp is becoming a regular at new high schools.
, the newest comprehensive high school in the Sacramento City Unified School District, and will now take over as athletic director at , which opened in 2008.
He'll be the second athletic director in that school's history, according to the Elk Grove Citizen, and started last week.
"We have some great role models over at Cosumnes Oaks," Kapp said by phone. "I think that in itself makes a program stronger and stronger each year–when the kids are getting good life lessons from the people they look up to."
He said he expects the school's football team to be dominant this year, but that won't be the school's only talented team. The girls' soccer team went to the division finals last year.
Kapp, who learned about the job opening while coaching the south's All-Star softball team with Cosumnes Oaks softball coach Lynda Bettencourt, praised the support system at the school.
He said Cosumnes Oaks will be a better fit for him; at the time when he left Rosemont, the Sacramento City Unified School District was planning to cut all sports funding.
He also praised former Wolfpack Athletic Director Matt Winn.
"My goal is to continue what he's done and improve in areas that need improvement," Kapp said.
Cosumnes Oaks' first football game of the season is Aug. 24 against Roseville.
