Elk Grove Sailor Dominates Portion of Camellia Cup

Mark Erdrich of Elk Grove undefeated in the Santana 20 class of 47th Folsom Lake race.

Mark Erdrich of Elk Grove was undefeated in the Santana 20 class of the 47th Camellia Cup held on Folsom Lake Sunday.

Erdrich was last year's Camellia Cup champion, but a smaller turnout by Santanas meant his wins counted less than wins by other sailors in classes with larger numbers of boats, said John Poimiroo, race spokesman.

And, though he had a flawless performance in his five races, Poimiroo said Erdrich he could not overtake George Koch of Carmichael to repeat as CamCup champion.

Erdrich is ranked sixth in the nation among Santana 20 skippers.

The annual race is hosted by the Folsom Lake Yacht Club.
