Neighborhood News Showcase at Access Sacramento

ACCESS SACRAMENTO presents:

WELCOME TO NEIGHBORHOOD NEWS – THE 21ST CENTURY “DIGITAL SOAPBOX”

Access Sacramento invites you to help celebrate our 25th year of operation on Saturday, March 12 from noon to 4pm at the Coloma Community Center, 4623 T Street Sacramento. Access Sacramento will welcome participation by Sacramento County residents, artists and musicians, major media organizations and nonprofit groups.

 Showcased in the Coloma Auditorium will be major media contributors such as The Sacramento Bee, Sacramento Press, KCRA Channel 3, KXTV News 10 and many others. City, County, and State agencies will also participate celebrating “Sunshine Week”, encouraging the open and transparent sharing of information by all government agencies. (www.SunshineWeek.org).  Learn how these organizations encourage “community reporting” from you and your neighbors.

 Access Sacramento will demonstrate its “green studio” and show how easy it is to create public service announcements other video programs. The television studio will host musical groups and demonstrate studio production skills. If your message works for radio, our community cable radio station will be open for business.

 The Media Lab will showcase the public launch of the new website AccessLocal.tv with content from our five Neighborhood News partner organizations. See what local youth have created, telling the “digital media stories” of their south Sacramento neighborhoods.

 Plus there will be food and fun for everyone. The celebration will mark our 25th birthday as an organization “making a difference, one voice at a time.” See you here!

  • Learn the steps needed to create your own TV show
  • Be your own anchor using a computerized “virtual” television studio
  • Become a community “Neighborhood News” reporter or blogger
  • Host your own cable radio program and “stream” to the world on the Internet
  • Record a music performance or video in the four-camera television studio
  • Use Web 2.0 techniques on AccessLocal.tv
  • Ask questions of local major media organizations and learn how to use their web sites

Access Sacramento is a nonprofit community media organization dedicated to bringing the tools and training for television and radio to all Sacramento County residents.
