Franklin Loses to Jesuit in Semifinals

Jesuit will take on Sheldon in Saturday's boys basketball Division 1 Sac Joaquin Section final.

The Franklin Wildcats came into Tuesday's CIF Sac-Joaquin Section Division I boys basketball semifinal game against the Jesuit Marauders at the newly-named Power Balance Pavilion (formerly Arco Arena) with the higher seed and the experience of having advanced to the section finals in each of the past two seasons.

Those two factors didn't matter, as the No. 3 Marauders showed teamwork and poise to defeat the No. 2 Wildcats 64-56.

Jesuit junior guard Parker Uu again led all scorers with 20 points, while junior guard Brian Glodowski scored 11 and three Marauders finished with nine points- senior guard Alex DiManno, junior guard Akachi Okugo and junior forward Bryce Pressley.

Franklin was led by the Iroegbu brothers- senior forward Chukwuemeka Iroegbu, who scored 17 points, and sophomore guard Ikenna Iroegbu, who finished with 11. Sophomore guard Darin Johnson added 13 points.

Saturday's section final is set with Jesuit (22-8) facing fellow Delta River League-foe Sheldon (22-7) at 8:30 p.m. at Power Balance Pavilion. Franklin, which like the section finalists also advances to next week's NorCal Regional tournament at home sites, now has a record of 24-6.
