Oakland A's, San Francisco Giants Postseason Bound; Bay Bridge Series in Works?

Bay Area baseball has a chance to make headlines this fall.

The Oakland Athletics and San Francisco Giants are both into the “postseason” but the A’s still have a lot to gain should they defeat the Texas Rangers Wednesday.

The A’s will clinch the A.L. West Division crown with a victory today while the Giants already clinched the N.L. West. Oakland secured at least a spot in the A.L. Wild Card round with a victory Monday and will play the Baltimore Orioles in a one-game playoff on Friday should they lose tomorrow (site yet to be determined), with the winner of that game facing the New York Yankees in the A.L. Divisional Series. Should the A’s win Wednesday, they will travel to Detroit and play them Saturday and Sunday. The Giants will host the Cincinnati Reds on Saturday and Sunday.

Many Bay Area baseball fans think there could be another Bay Bridge series, as was the case in 1989 when the A’s swept the Giants in four games in what became known as the “earthquake series” for the Loma Prieta earthquake. Do you think another Bay Bridge series could happen? With both teams looking good, it’s certainly not out of the equation.

How many A’s and Giants fans are out there? Who’s ready for the postseason and which A’s fans are ready for TODAY? Send us your pictures! Peter Fournier will be at today’s A’s game and will send photos when possible.

It’s a good year for Bay Area baseball, but even better for Oakland A’s fans. It all comes down to Wednesday. Sweep the Rangers and the A’s take the West, something that many fans thought was never possible at the beginning of the year. The improbability could become reality, and that had many A’s fans, Tuesday night, too eager to even sleep.

Thanks for the suggestion. The City is currently studying a new interchange off 99 and Whitelock,Read More and the project is in our General Plan. We’re also updating the Elk Grove Blvd. onramp—currently one of the most outdated on 99 in the region. Work will begin this summer.

An overpass and off/on ramps will be built at Whitelock Parkway after the mall is built, whichRead More should take place after the soccer stadium is built, which should take place after the city secures a professional soccer team. Elk Grove better make sure the professional soccer team is a women's team, or else LaWanna Montgomery will be mad.

Why not down to Grantline and then head back north along the freeway? Plus Kammerer will eventuallyRead More be widened all the way to I-5 and commuters can use that too. Take Grantline to Kammerer to Bruceville.
