Sheldon and Pleasant Grove Get Top Seeds in Basketball Playoffs

Their first playoff matchups are next week.

Basketball playoffs are right around the corner, and two Elk Grove teams are sitting at the top of the Division I rankings.

Sheldon High School has the No. 1 seed, while Pleasant Grove is No. 2. Their first games will be 7 p.m. Wednesday at home. Sheldon will face the winner of the Friday game between No. 16 Bear Creek and No. 17 Rodriguez. Pleasant Grove will face the winner of the game between No. 15 Armijo and No. 18 West.

Last year, Sheldon went all the way to the state finals but lost to Mater Dei High School.

Also representing Elk Grove in the playoffs this year will be No. 5 Cosumnes Oaks and No. 10 Laguna Creek, both in Division II.

In the Division I girls basketball playoffs, Monterey Trail is ranked No. 7 and Pleasant Grove is No. 8; their first games are at home Tuesday. Florin High School is ranked No. 6 in the Division II girls playoffs.
