Freaky 'Headless Boy' Wins Patch Costume Contest

Check out our photo gallery of the nine adorable finalists.

Celebrity judge Heidi Klum chose 11-year-old Wyckoff, NJ resident Jack Hagan as grand prize winner of last week.

Hagan's spooky—if not slightly disturbing—"headless boy" costume was picked by Klum from nearly 2,700 entries from Patch sites across the country.

Hagan wins a three-day trip for two to New York City that includes meeting Klum, plus a donation of $1,031 to a charity of his choice.

Ken Hagan, Jack's father, said the two enjoyed creating the costume together.

"It's kind of a father-son fun thing we like to do each year," Ken Hagan said.

The winner chose K.I.N.D.: Kids in Need of Desks as his charity. The organization is a joint effort of UNICEF and MSNBC. It provides schools in Malawi, Africa with desks to create a better atmosphere for learning.

Hagan said his son learned about K.I.N.D. when MSNBC host Lawrence O'Donnell visited his elementary school last year to speak about the charity. His school raised more than $6,000 for the organization.

In California, Redondo Beach resident Nell Turley became a finalist for her creative snail costume.

Of course, we're partial to Elk Grove contestant Grace Davis, 12, whose we forwarded to the judges for consideration. Better luck next year, Elk Grove, and stay tuned for more fun contests on Patch!
