Monterey Trail High School shares a sprawling campus, complete with a brand-new football stadium, with its feeder middle school, Edward Harris Jr. Middle School. The school has over 2000 students, over half of whom qualify for free or reduced lunches based on federal family income guidelines. Monterey Trail offers honors and advanced placement classes, as well as bilingual teaching assistants for those students learning English. A career academy trains students for jobs in engineering and computer science. In addition to sports, after-school activities include band, a dance company and cultural and topic-specific student groups, including Fashion Club and Hmong Club. For parents, the school offers a Parent Institute, a nine-week course on how to help teenagers prepare for and gain acceptance to college.
