I'll repeat my earlier comments. Using an anonymous poster from an online website as a source is notRead More good journalism.

Having a Green Acres in Elk Grove would be AWESOME! Can't wait!
Elk Grove Laguna Forums May 13, 2013 at 07:03 pm
Good grief, using an anonymous commenter from an online forum as a source for a news story? Is thatRead More what journalism is these days?

I have tried several different premade meals from this store (we had a tasting at home one nightRead More trying several kinds) and have found the food to be pretty bland and bordering on "tv dinner" quality. Combine that with the small space and limited selection and they could rename the place "food for dummies". I'm not surprised this flash in the pan didn't work out.

Check out CNN. Possible arrest on bombing..

I like this place. The prepared meals are quite good.

Thai Chili is an Elk Grove jewel. Happy to see it on the list. Todo un Poco has a good, imaginativeRead More menu. For cheap, take out food, my favorites are Baja Burrito and the Cheesesteak Shop. Proud to support local businesses.

What about Palermo? Fantastic pasta and food and great service. I agree with Boulevard andRead More Silva's, Brick House The rest are cookie cutter Chinese of which we have way too much around here. We need more independent great restaurants like Boulevard and less chain restaurants. I get sick of having to drive to Sac for a decent meal.
Wendy Roberts April 7, 2013 at 12:53 am
If anyone is in the restaurant business, they ought to know that they are going to be reviewed byRead More others, sometimes professional restaurant critics. Just because you own an independent restaurant does not make you untouchable, nor does it make your food, ambience or service particularly good or bad. I agree with what some have said. Some good, some not so good on that list.

Back ln town. Can't wait to see the store and all those shoes! Chris in Sheldon

It has nothing to do with them being solid enough for a bank loan. This incentive is offered by theRead More City and these people noticed it and applied for it. Smart of them.
Saima April 23, 2013 at 10:17 pm
I agree with Connie Whyn and Tom. Also if they aren't solid enough for a bank loan why shouldRead More taxpayers foot their bill?
Tom Waltman April 23, 2013 at 05:29 pm
Without some change in the parking situation in Old Town, you will be hard pressed to generate theRead More daily traffic required to keep the doors open at that location. We have known this for years. Continuing to blame the business owners for failing in these locations is a bit disengenuous. Let's get a plan to address the parking, and then look at a marketing plan for the entire Old Town area. I honestly want Old Town to succeed, but I would like to see a fiscally responsible approach that addressed the systemic issues, rather than the recurring symptoms.

This is "Breaking News"? I get this alert in my email? If the reopening of a Denney's isRead More "Breaking News" then I need to stop getting "alerts" from the Patch! I guess is anything really "Breaking News" worthy will be reported on my KCRA alerts since that is "Where The News Comes First"!

And while I agree a bookstore would have been nice, it is what it is and it's a shoe store. Also DSWRead More in NO way compares to the "other" shoe store that resides in the same shopping center. I for one am pleased that we are getting this shoe store as they are more upscale and better quailty shoes, carrying items for Men, Women and Children.

Who thinks it would be a great idea for me to open a Noah's bagels? That sounds better to me!

You know that putting "devastating" and "home" in quotes makes it sound likeRead More maybe the fire wasn't really devastating and his home wasn't really his home, right?

Trash overflowing in the parking lot & it's only day 2! One was just fine. Now another. ThankRead More goodness my house just sold because after my daughter graduates this year, I'm moving back to Laguna West.

Mayor Davis is like many other politicians. He doesn't "serve" his entire constituent,Read More only those who think as he thinks.
Dana P March 14, 2013 at 02:13 pm
I can understand the City of EG wanting a huge new retail store for the tax revenue. I will neverRead More shop in there (or any Walmart) because of the horrible track record they have as an employer and their strong-arm business tactics.
Johann Schuster March 13, 2013 at 02:58 pm
Well put. HAVING an MLS team here in Elk Grove is a grand idea. But, will people actually giveRead More their time & money? Will they? I think reality is an *incredibly* weak 'maybe'. Maybe not.
Greg March 13, 2013 at 12:45 pm
"whoever is operating the stadium will lose $3.9 to $5.4 million a year" -- fromRead More traditionally overoptimistic gvt projections. It's a no brainer, adding in the other factors mentioned by others. Why even look at the issue any further?
Jeff Thurman March 13, 2013 at 12:54 am
Just because we have a lot of people who play soccer, it does not mean they want to pay to see aRead More game. It just means we have a lot of kids that play soccer. I go to my kids games all the time. If I took my kids to a pro game, they would want to leave by half time (and so would I). It would do well the first couple of years, but after year 2 the fans will dwindle to 2000 to 4000 per game. Concerts will not make up the difference if they are allowed.

Take it for what you want. If you want Sizzler go to 6009 Florin rd. There still inRead More buisness....Just saying!
bflrs143 March 6, 2013 at 07:21 pm
Well DMS...that sounds a little racist to me, but this is sad for Elk Grove...it will getRead More filled...eventually.
DMS March 6, 2013 at 07:16 pm
I thinks that's the 1 commercial place I didn't eat in EG. Take the sizzler to south sac and itRead More will be selling fried shrimp like crazy. LOl
