City Manager Could Get Raise to $240K

The Elk Grove City Council this week will consider increasing the salary of Elk Grove City Manager Laura Gill.

Elk Grove City Manager Laura Gill could get a raise this week.

The Elk Grove City Council on Wednesday will consider increasing Gill's salary from $228,871 to $240,315 – a 5 percent raise.

The raise would include the automatic cost-of-living increase Gill receives each year, as well as an increase for merit: the cost-of-living increase is 2.6 percent and the proposed merit increase would be 2.4 percent.

"City employees who achieve satisfactory performance, who are not already paid at the top step of the salary range, are awarded a step increase on their anniversary date which equals a 5 percent salary increase," a city staff report states. "Providing the City Manager a 5 percent increase (to include merit increase and the [cost-of-living increase]) would be similar to step increases awarded to other City employees."

The staff report notes that Gill was originally up for a 5 percent merit increase, but she "requested a lesser merit increase so that her total salary increase, including the merit and [cost-of-living increase], is equal to 5 percent."

The item is on the city council's consent agenda, which means it is not expected to be debated.
